As the fantastic book already did, The Little Prince, written by the aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry at the beginning of the 20th century, Speaking to the Stars (Editorial Tregolam), by Elena García Pérez, stands as a novel adapted for all ages with different teachings.
The protagonist of this book is Pipilet Mandala, a humanoid with the attributes of a snail, which comes to Earth from Galappar. The early destruction of his planet due to climatic causes leads him to prevent other beings in the universe from making the same mistakes.
In our world he will meet Elena, a fourteen-year-old girl with whom he will share different aspects of life such as: friendship, the universe, energy, the cosmos, holistic medicine… .. meanwhile, Pipilet will learn the gastronomy of Earth and he will begin to discover himself in various situations that will provoke new emotions.
“The living beings that inhabit within the cosmos are part of a WHOLE. The physical structures and vibrations are in accordance with the cosmic forces. Everything in the universe is made up of energy and we are all energy bodies.”
The different characters (Elena’s parents, her brother and her friends, mainly) string together this story that invites us to carry out a meditation on the meaning of life and humanity.
What is our destiny? Will we be able to change things through union?
The answer to these and other philosophical questions is sought in a didactic and reflective way, in such a way that Pipilet Mandala begins to be part of us as if he were a life partner.
“Both what you call living and non-living beings must reign in perfect harmony so that an imbalance is not caused.”
The protagonist of Talking to the stars, who can speak telepathically and communicate with his family in the distance through music, is able to open up to the world to absorb everything that will help him to continue growing internally.
“I invite you to begin to interpret your feelings, emotions, dreams… and you will really have found your treasure.”
The symbolism of this character transcends beyond his appearance to establish himself as a model of love and reflection that also materialises in his shell which represents the infinite and the eternal.
The language used by Elena García Pérez to develop the narration is both close and profound. In such a way that each one of the words arrive like an arrow of light within the darkness that sometimes plagues our day to day.
The reader will feel part of the book thanks to the use of the dialogues that mark the progress of this work and that ooze revealing messages about existence.
“Learn, my friend, to know how to lead life calmly and with wisdom, knowing how to enjoy it and living every moment that is offered to you with intensity, do not waste it, and always remember the North-South path.”
Furthermore, the writer maintains a constant conversation with the reader, directly proposing a series of exercises that will help one to carry out a task of meditation and self-understanding. In this way, the writer guides us during the reading of the book, towards deeper approaches to our environment and our social relationships.
Talking to the stars is an ode to life, human connection, introspection, knowledge and harmony within our little world as part of a much larger universe.
A book full of wisdom with transcendental approaches that does not understand ages and that will be on our shelves as a reference of quotes to keep in memory.
